Use and limitations

Keep your original, review the result, and use only images you are allowed to edit.

Clearcut is a free automated tool for portrait background removal. It is provided as available, and processing may fail or produce imperfect results. No guarantee is made about accuracy, continuous availability or suitability for a particular submission.

Your images

Use only photos you own or have permission to edit. You retain whatever rights you already have in the source photo. Clearcut does not claim ownership of your selected photos or downloaded results. Processing happens locally; selecting a file does not publish it on this website.

Check before use

Review hair, clothing, glasses and other boundaries before using a cutout. Results may include unwanted background or omit part of the person. The tool does not validate passport, identification, application or other official photo requirements.

Technical limits

Inputs are JPG, PNG or WebP under 15 MB and up to 40 megapixels. Downloads are PNG files with a maximum side length of 2,048 pixels. Device memory, browser support and connection speed affect the experience. Keep a separate copy of your original.
